Directions for the EyeClops

Imagine if the human eye could zoom in all the way to see things 400 times larger than they are. It may not be possible right now, but the EyeClops Bionic Eye is a toy designed to do just that. It plugs into your TV and works just like a microscope. The easy-to-use electronic device can show you the veins in a leaf or the details on a penny.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "brain case," the plastic box attached to the device, and insert the 5 AA batteries into it. Match the + (positive) markings on the batteries with the positive markings engraved in the plastic.

    • 2

Screw the IRIS attachment, a plastic ring, onto the front of the EyeClops camera. This is the focusing ring for the device.

    • 3

Plug the video cables into your TV or VCR. Match the colors on the cables with the colors on the ports. If your TV does not have AV ports on it, connect an RF adapter according to its directions and plug the EyeClops device into that.

    • 4

      Switch on the EyeClops device.

    • 5

Switch the TV to input mode. Press the AV selector button on your TV or remote until you see the picture from the EyeClops camera.

    • 6

Place your EyeClops eyeball on the testing material, pointing the lens at the object. Watch the object on the TV.

    • 7

Zoom in using the zoom knob on the side of the device. You will need to focus the EyeClops by rotating the IRIS attachment until a red groove lines up with the center of the focusing gauge. If the material you are testing still does not seem focused, adjust the IRIS and watch the screen until the object appears focused.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not point the EyeClops camera at your eye. It uses bright lights and can damage your retinas, potentially causing blindness.
