How to Play Songs That You Make on Feedback

Players of Guitar Hero III are able to make their own songs for use in the game, using a program called Feedback. The process involves placing the colored gems in the appropriate places while the song is playing, and a lot of playback to make sure they are placed correctly. Once the user is satisfied, he can play the songs on the game itself using a program called Guitar Hero Three Control Panel, or GHTCP.

Instructions

    • 1

Load up GHTCP. Click "Add," and then "New Song" to start the process.

    • 2

Look at the window that appears. There are several fields to complete, including the name of the song (this is the filename, not the name as it appears in the game), type of data and the type of audio. You can then select the audio file you wish to use from your hard drive by clicking "Audio Tracks."

    • 3

Test the track by clicking "Preview Track." This gives a 30-second demo of the track as it will appear in the game.

    • 4

Click "Apply." The next window to appear will give a selection of options for how your song will appear and function in the game itself. These include the song title, the name of the artist, the year of the song, guitar and band volumes and hammer-on threshold.

    • 5

Edit the options controlling the aesthetics. From here you can select the gender of singer, the type of count-off (1-2-3-4, etc.), the bassist you want, the properties for the boss battle, the text show where "as performed by" normally appears, and whether you want a keyboard player on stage.

    • 6

Click "Apply." The song will now be in the song list, and from here you can make additions and alterations to its properties as normal.

    • 7

Click "File," and then "Execute Actions." If you do not do this, nothing you have done up to this point will be saved.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't find your song, select "Hide Original Songs," which will display only the songs you have made yourself.

  • To delete a song that you no longer want, or that you have made a mistake on, go to the song list, select the song, click the "Songlist Management" menu, and then click "Delete Song." Note that you cannot delete the original songs that came with the game. Note also that the files for the song will remain in the Guitar Hero III music and song folders, and these must be deleted manually.
