Installation of an Interior Window Apron
To dress up a window interior, you can install trim casing around the entire unit. Installing trim casing allows you to add your own touch to a room. After installing the trim casings and the stool, you can secure the apron into place. The apron can be the same stock as the casings or you can find molding or apron material with a much more intricate design. Installing an interior window apron is easy as you'll only need a few finish nails and a wood filler to cover the nail heads to complete the task.

1
Hook the butt of the tape measure to the outside casing edge and stretch it to the opposite side of the window. Take the measurement once the tape measure reaches the outside edge of the opposite window casing.
-
2
Transfer the measurement to the piece of trim stock that the apron will be cut out of. Cut the trim stock at the indicated mark, using an electric cutting tool such as a miter or circular saw.

-
3
Hold the apron below the stool and align the outside edges with the side casings.
-
4
Place two finish or brad nails at each end of the apron and two more in the center of it. Secure the finish nails into place with a pneumatic finish gun or the brad nails into place with a hammer.
-
5
Tap the heads of the nails below the apron surface, using a nail set tool and a hammer. Fill the holes with wood filler. Allow the filler to thoroughly dry. Sand the wood filler with a low-grit sandpaper so that it blends with the apron surface.
-
6
Paint or stain the apron if desired, using a paintbrush.
