Routinely check your wheel spokes to keep your bike in balance.

The spokes on a motorcycle wheel connect the wheel's hub to the outer ring on the wheel. Inevitably the spokes on a motorcycle wheel can work themselves loose and throw the wheel out of balance. A good indication that your spokes are loose and need tightening is if your CR250 wheel is vibrating when in motion. A simple adjustment of your wheel spokes will improve your motorcycle's function.

Instructions

    • 1

Set your bike securely on a motorcycle stand. Shift the bike into neutral.

    • 2

Slide a spoke torque wrench onto the spoke closest to the lower side of the air valve. Turn your wrench clockwise until you hear the spoke click in place.

    • 3

Repeat step 2 on the third spoke from the valve, turning the wrench clockwise or counterclockwise to tighten or loosen the spoke. If some spokes are seized, apply oil to them.

    • 4

Continue this process along the wheel until all the spokes are evenly tightened.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your spokes are not tightened, do not attempt to ride at fast speeds.

  • Do not overtighten spokes, as this can cause wheel damage.
