Instructions

  1. Swag

    • 1

Determine where the center of the window is by measuring along the top of the existing curtain rod with a measuring tape. Use a pencil to make a light mark just above the center of the curtain rod.

    • 2

Lay the window scarf or chosen piece of material on a flat surface. Use a tape measure to determine the center of the scarf or material and place your forefinger on the top center of the material.

    • 3

Use your thumb to gather the material so that it meets at your forefinger.

    • 4

Place the center of the material over the center of the curtain rod. Loop the material one time around the curtain rod to secure it in place.

    • 5

Drape either the left or right end of the scarf over the end of the left or right end of the curtain rod. The material between the center of the scarf and the end of the scarf should swag down over the existing curtain.

    • 6

Repeat the same process on the opposite side of the curtain.

    Draped Effect

    • 7

Wrap one end of the scarf tightly around either the left or right end of the curtain rod. To ensure that the material stays in place, wrap it two or three times.

    • 8

Drape the material along the top of the existing curtain, gently pulling the other end of the scarf to the opposite end of the curtain rod.

    • 9

Secure the other end of the material to the rod by tightly wrapping it around the end of the curtain rod. Wrap the material around the rod two or three times to ensure that it stays in place.
