MBTI Team Building
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a commonly used application by human resource professionals and managers to create more dynamic and efficient teams. It is used to bring teams together by looking at the personality types of each team member. The personality type provides information about the strengths and weaknesses of each individual. To create teams based on the MBTI, it is best to schedule a meeting with your team members to have them review the merits of MBTI as well as determine their own MBTI.
Instructions

-
1
Engage the team in a fun icebreaker activity that helps to introduce everyone in the team as well as their respective role(s) within the team.
-
2
Start a discussion based on the four MBTI principles: Sensing/Intuition; Thinking/Feeling; Extraversion/Introversion; and Judging/Perceiving.
-
-
3
Distribute MBTI personality tests to all team members and allocate enough time to allow everyone in the group to determine their own MBTI personality type.
-
4
Create a list of customized problem solving challenges based on your team's business or industry. Give a list of the challenges to each team member.
-
5
Create teams with the same number of extrovert and introvert types. This tends to be one of the most important determinations of personality types for the MBTI. For instance, if you have a team of 10 people and four people are introverts, you will want to create two teams with two introverts on each team.
-
6
Have each team member announce their personality type to the team. Also have each team member announce their own strengths and weaknesses within the MBTI type.
-
7
Create a challenge for each team based on the list of problems to solve in Step 4. Provide a reward to the winners of the challenge and have each team explain how the MBTI personality types helped to complete the challenge.
