How to Use Silicone Caulking to Mount a PCB
Printed circuit boards are used in most electronic mechanisms produced today. They range greatly in size and contain some of the most important wiring components necessary to run a mechanism. A loose or rattling PCB can lead to a malfunction quickly, which is why it must be mounted to the interior of the structure. Once you disassemble to mechanism to access the PCB, you can mount it quickly and safely using silicone caulking.

Cut off the end of the tube of silicone caulk with a utility knife. Cut at an angle so the caulking is easier to access due to a larger opening.

Cut the cotton end off a cotton swab with a utility knife to create an application tool for the caulking. Apply only a small amount of silicone caulk.

Pick the PCB up gently within the mechanism.

Dab the cut end of the cotton swab into the silicone caulking. Cover the cut end with a small amount of caulk.

Dab the silicone caulk onto each bottom corner of the PCB. Avoid touching any soldered pieces and apply silicone caulk to the board only.

Press the PCB down onto the interior of the mechanism gently to mount it back in place. Allow the silicone caulk to air dry for 24 hours before reassembling the mechanism.

Tips & Warnings
Applying a small amount of caulk can be difficult if you are working with a tube of silicone caulk.
Avoid touching the top wires or components as the slightest pressure can damage the board severely.
