How to Build an HHO Cell Generator
An HHO cell is made of metal plates that are submerged in an electrolyte solution that creates a hydroxy gas. This gas is transferred through a bubbler to make power. The HHO cell can be applied to many different applications that require power such as a vehicle or, if made on a large enough scale, a house.
Things You'll Need
- Glass jar (with screw on lid)
- Bottle container (with screw on lid)
- Electrical wire
- Plastic tubing
- 2 razor blades
- Electrical tape
- Water
- Salt
- Stirring utensil
- Silicone sealer
- 2 big screws (2 to 3 inches in length)
- Laptop power adapter
- Wire stripper
- Drill
- Lighter
Instructions

1
Slide the top metal guard of the razor to the right side on one razor blade and to the left side on the other razor blade. Slide the metal guard so that there is about a half inch of it in length left on top of the razor.
-
2
Use a drill to make a small hole in the top of the razor guard on the side that is hanging off in the corner of the guard on both blades. Run electrical wire through the holes on both guards.

3
Drill a hole into the top of the coffee jar lid on the left and right side of the lid. Insert the two big screws into either hole and use the silicone sealer to make a tight seal.
-
4
Drill a hole into the center of the lid that corresponds to the same size as the plastic tubing you are using. Insert the plastic tubing into the top lid about a couple of inches.
-
5
Route the other end of the plastic tubing into a bottle container filled with water. Make a hole in the side of the bottle with a drill and route the tube into the bottom of the bottle. Use silicone sealer to seal around the hole of the plastic tubing. Screw the cap onto the top of the bottle container.
-
6
Place three to four small strips of electrical tape on one of the razor blades about a half inch away from each other. This will make a gap between the two metal blades. Place the other razor blade onto the blade you put the electrical tape onto. It is important that the razor blades do not touch each other. Use a strip of electrical tape to insulate the bottom of the razor blades by taping over the bottom blades. Be careful not to apply the tape to the top of the razor blades, because this is the area where the hydrogen will be released from.
-
7
Fill the jar with water until there is about an inch of room left in the jar. Add about a 1/16th of a teaspoon of salt to the water and stir the water using a stirring utensil until the salt has been dissolved.
-
8
Connect the connecting wires of the razor blades to the screws that are connected to the coffee jar lid by wrapping the wires around. The screws will act as the electrodes of the HHO system.
-
9
Use a wire stripping tool to strip the insulation off of a laptop adapter. Wire the negative wire of the HHO system to the negative wire of the laptop adapter and wire the positive wire to the positive wire int he laptop adapter by twisting the wires together. Wrap the wires in electrical tape to insulate them.
-
10
Plug the laptop adapter into an electrical outlet to see the HHO fuel cell begin to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from each other making hydroxy gas. Use a lighter to light a flame at the top of the bubbler bottle to demonstrate a chemical reaction causing combustion.
