GE Spacemaker Microwave Troubleshooting

Before attempting to troubleshoot your GE Spacemaker microwave, first realize that there are several things that may seem wrong about your microwave but actually are normal. Normal microwave operation includes condensation on the inside of the microwave, steam or vapors escaping from around the door, a dull thumping sound while the microwave is on and a dimming oven light when the microwave cooks at a level other than "High." Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the power cord from the wall, then plug the appliance back in if there was a power surge and the microwave will not operate.

    • 2

Press firmly on the Spacemaker's door to ensure it is closed. The microwave will not operate unless the door is fully closed.

    • 3

Open your home's breaker box and flip the "Kitchen" switch to "On" if it is in the "Off" position.

    • 4

Press the "Clear/Off" button on the microwave when the "Locked" message is on the front display. When the microwave is locked, you cannot use any of the buttons on the front display.

    • 5

Enter an extended cook time when the "Sensor Error" message appears. This message indicates that the Spacemaker did not sense any steam before a cycle ended.
