Maytag MAH2400AWW Troubleshooting

Amy Kingston

Whirlpool manufactures the Maytag model MAH2400AW washing machine. This model is a high efficiency washer designed for household use. If the washer suddenly fails to operate properly, troubleshoot it and determine if the problem can be corrected at home. Some issues can be repaired by making a few minor adjustments. This may eliminate the need for a costly service call. Ensure that the machine is plugged in and household fuses or breakers are not blown or tripped before you begin.

Error Codes

Step 1

Balance the load if "dc" appears on the display. This error indicates that the washer did not spin because the load is unbalanced.

Step 2

Press the "Power Off" button if "dl" appears on the display. Close the door tightly and restart the cycle. This error indicates that the door is open while the washer is running. Call for service if the code continues to appear.

Step 3

Close the door and restart the cycle if "FL" appears on the display. This means the washer did not lock the door before the cycle began.

Step 4

Push against the door to firmly close it and press the "Power Off" button if "LO" appears on the display. This means the door is not unlocking properly. Alternatively, you can unplug the machine and wait two minutes before plugging it back in.

Step 5

Remove kinks in the drain hose if "nd" appears on the display. This means the washer is not draining properly. Call for service if the washer still does not drain.

Step 6

Turn the water faucets counterclockwise to open them fully and remove kinks in the fill hoses if "nF" is displayed. This indicates that the washer was not able to fill with water.

Step 7

Call for service if "Hr," "LE," "Lr" or "Sr" appears on the display. "Hr" indicates a problem with water temperature control. "LE" the washer is not completely filling with water. "Lr" means the motor is malfunctioning. "Sr" indicates a problem with the controls.

Locking and Unlocking the Door

Step 1

Press the "Start/Pause" button to stop the machine and unlock the door. The door locking mechanism will unlock within a few seconds.

Step 2

Close the door firmly and press the "Power Off" button if the door does not lock when a cycle starts. Press the power button to clear error codes and restart the cycle.

Step 3

Call for service if the door does not unlock or does not lock properly.

Leaks

Step 1

Close the door firmly. Do not overload the washer.

Step 2

Tighten the hose connections on the washer.

Step 3

Insert the drain hose into the drain and secure it.

Step 4

Measure the proper amount of detergent for each load. Do not use detergents that are not designed for high efficiency washers. Oversudsing will occur, which can cause the machine to overflow.
