1
Place the canvas frame flat on the work surface and position the plywood over the top. Canvas frames are available from art stores in a variety of sizes. If you can't source a canvas frame, make a simple wood frame from 1-by-2 lumber.
-
2
Attach the plywood to the canvas frame with hammer and nails -- one nail every three inches around the perimeter.

3
Lay the foam batting on the work surface and place the plywood and frame on top, plywood side down. Cut the batting 5-inches larger than the size of the frame. Pull the sides of the batting up and over the back of the frame and staple in place.
-
4
Lay the upholstery fabric on the work surface, the wrong side of the fabric up. Iron the fabric flat and place the frame down on top, batting side down. Cut the fabric 5-inches larger than the frame, then pull the sides up and over the back and staple in place, as you did the batting.

5
Locate three wall studs with the stud finder where you want the platform bed and headboard to go. Measure the distance from the top of the platform bed to under the top of the headboard frame and mark this on the three wall stud positions. Check that the three points are level.
-
6
Screw in a 5-inch screw into each wall stud, leaving around an inch of the screw jutting out from the wall. Position the headboard over the screws, flat against the wall. Push the platform bed up under the headboard; it should fit directly under the bottom of the headboard.

Tips & Warnings
Large "big box" home improvement shops will cut plywood to size for you. If you want a specific shape, they may be able to accommodate you.
Use care when working with frames and wood, as splintering is common.
