How to Remove Suzuki Intruder Baffles

Motorcycles often have multiple rear exhaust pipes.

The rumblings emitted from your Suzuki Intruder motorcycle are controlled by two main features on the exhaust. The exhaust pipe filters how much exhaust is expelled and has a large influence, as does the baffle. The baffle on your motorcycle is a circular tube inserted into the exhaust that adjusts the way air flows past it, which in turn creates a specific tone. If you are unhappy with your current sound or are just curious as to what your bike might sound like, you can remove the baffle in place of a different sound filtering device.

Things You'll Need

• Pliers
• Flat-head screwdriver
• Gloves

Instructions

1. Run the engine on your Suzuki Intruder for a few minutes. You want the exhaust to become warm to the touch as it expands the metal, making it easier to slide the baffle out. Wear work gloves while performing this, so you don't burn your hand.

2. Kill the engine and grab hold of the baffle on the exhaust pipe with the pair of pliers.

3. Pull out the baffle slightly and fit in your flat-head screwdriver. This secures the baffle and prevents it from sliding back into the exhaust.

4. Slide out the baffle completely. It is a few inches long, so after an inch or so you can pull the baffle out by hand.
