I Installed a Light Fixture & It Doesn't Work
Many houses come with the basic brass light fixtures that do nothing to help improve the interior style. For this reason many people change out some of the lights in the home. If you have recently done this but the fixture isn't working, several things should be checked to get it operating properly and ensure you haven't created a fire hazard. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Check to see that you turned the power back on after you were finished. Look in the circuit breaker box for any switches that are not on and flip them to the on position. Check the light to see whether it now works.
-
2
Change out the light bulbs. It could be that the bulbs became damaged when you were changing the light fixture. Before putting new ones in, shake them and listen for a light rattle. The rattle indicates that the filament is broken. Use only bulbs with no rattle or use new high-efficiency lights.

3
Turn the power off and check the light itself. Use a drill to unscrew the mounting screws.
-
4
Lower the light so you can see the wires. The wires of the house and light fixture are colored, and like colors should be connected together. Black with black and white with white. Grounding wires are either copper or green and are not always connected. It depends on whether there is a mate for it.
-
5
Look at the wire connections and see whether they wiggle or are loose. Wrap electrical tape around them to keep the connections tight. Once fixed, put the light back on the ceiling and screw it back in place.
-
6
Turn the power back on and check the light again. If it still doesn't work, the fixture has faulty wiring, and you should return it to the store for a new one.
