How to Ship Cargo to Djibouti
Djibouti is a small republic at the western end of the Gulf of Aden with a regional container port operated by Djibouti Ports International. Shipping into Djibouti carries a certain risk, as Djibouti is in an area frequented by pirates who have carried out attacks on shipping in the Gulf of Aden. These attacks may result in increased shipping insurance costs.

1
Load the cargo into a container, if the cargo will fit in a standard 20- or 40-foot container. If the cargo is less than a trailer-load, stack the cargo and measure the height, width and depth of the cargo using a tape measure.
-
2
Multiply the measurements together to obtain cubic feet, the divide the result by 0.02832 to obtain the volume of the cargo in cubic meters.

3
Contact a reputable freight forwarding company to act as your agent for the shipment. A list of reputable freight forwarders, grouped by geography, is available through the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (see Resources). Tell the freight forwarder how many cubic meters of cargo you have for Djibouti and when you wish the cargo to arrive. Fill out and sign any regulatory and insurance forms provided by the freight forwarder.
