How to Get a Comb Binder Unstuck
A jammed comb binder turns a normally simple process into a complicated mess. Some of the more common reasons a comb binder jams include too much paper or the plastic comb breaking. Too much paper can cause alignment problems with the lever itself, while broken plastic pieces lodge themselves into the various mechanical parts of the machine. Trying to operate the binder when it's jammed can break it.

1
Flip the lever lock open, if applicable to the model. Slowly move the lever to the open position. Do not force it if it resists. Add one to two drops of mechanical grease (such as WD-40) to the moving parts of the lever and try moving it again.

2
Remove the paper and any scrap pieces.
-
-
3
Pull the plastic comb binding off the machine. Do not touch the sharp spokes holding the binding into place.
-
4
Remove any pieces of broken plastic, cardboard, paper or other debris from all the openings on the comb binder.
-
5
Set up the comb binder for use again. Use half the amount of paper you used when it jammed.
