Murray Lawn Mower Instructions
The rights to the Murray brand name, which is one of the leading brands of lawnmowers, were purchased in 2005 by the Briggs and Stratton Power Products Group after Murray Inc. filed for bankruptcy. Murray makes a wide range of mowers, including walk-behind mowers. They also produce a manual with instructions on how to safely operate and maintain a Murray gas-powered push mower. Start and Stop

Make sure the mower has the correct amount of oil. Fill the gas tank with gasoline. Ensure that the spark plug wire connects to the spark plug. Press the primer button on the side of the engine.

Stand behind the mower and hold the engine stop lever flush against the handlebar. Hold the grip of the starter rope in your other hand.

Pull the starter rope rapidly. Keep pulling the rope until the engine starts.

Release the engine stop lever from its operating position flush with the handlebar to stop the engine.
Maintenance

Lubricate the mower's wheels and any other pivot points with engine oil. Perform this maintenance once for every 25 hours of mower operation.

Ensure that the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Remove dirt and debris from the top and bottom of the mower. Wash with soap and water. Rinse.

Adjust the axle bolt at the wheel to change the height of the cut. Hold the flange bolt with a wrench and loosen the axle bolt with another wrench. Remove the flange nut. Move the wheel and axle bolt to the desired position on the mower. Fit the flange nut into the axle bolt. Repeat for each wheel.
Remove and Sharpen Blade

Sharpen the blade twice a year. Always remove the blade from the mower before sharpening.

Drain the fuel tank before starting blade removal. Set the mower on its side and use a piece of wood to prevent the blade from moving. Remove the bolt that secures the blade to the housing. Remove the blade.

Clean the blade with soap and water. Replace the blade if it is damaged. Sharpen an undamaged blade with a file.

Tips & Warnings
Move the engine stop lever several times before starting the engine. Make sure the engine stop cable can move freely.
Fill the tank with clean regular unleaded gasoline. You should not use ethanol, gasahol or premium unleaded gasoline on Murray push mowers, according to their manual.
