The hydraulic slave cylinder line on your Ford Ranger, which is attached to the slave cylinder, is necessary for operating the truck's hydraulic system. If the slave cylinder fails, the hydraulic line will need to be removed to replace the slave cylinder. It take about 30 minutes to remove the hydraulic slave cylinder line, and most of that time is spent lifting up the Ranger to access the hydraulic line.

Step 1

Park the Ranger on a flat, level surface and apply the truck's parking brake.

Step 2

Place a jack under the Ranger and lift it up. Depending on your height, the Ranger should be between 3 to 4 feet higher than normal.

Step 3

Crawl underneath the truck and remove the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder by twisting it counterclockwise and pulling it off. To reinstall the hydraulic line, simply reconnect it and twist it clockwise.
