Kitchen Stove Installation

Kitchen Stove Installation thumbnail
Don't hire a handyman to install your kitchen stove.

When installed correctly, your kitchen stove will not only fit securely into the space and match your power source, but will align properly with other appliances as well as the counter top. Additionally, the new stove will have enough spacing around it to allow for proper functioning and cleaning. As you install your new kitchen stove, taking the time to consider such things as the counter's height as well as that of adjacent appliances will ensure that you achieve a secure, functional installation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the electrical breaker if you need to install an electric stove, or phone your local gas company and request a technician to come to your home and shut off the gas line if you need to install a gas stove.

    • 2

Plug in the stove's electrical cord to your 220-volt socket, or connect the kitchen stove's gas line (if you own a gas-powered stove) to your incoming gas pipe using the full-moon threaded clasp. A full-moon threaded clasp will overlap both the gas pipe and the incoming gas line, ensuring a tight fit.

    • 3

Attach all of the burner coils if you have an electric stove or the gas raisers (similar to burner coils) by snapping the edges of their metal feet into the surface indentations.

    • 4

Slide the stove into the space allotted for it.

    • 5

Test the door gaskets by opening and closing the oven door, ensuring a tight fit.

    • 6

Turn on the breaker or have the gas service technician to turn the gas back on. You do not have to worry about a gas leak before turning the gas on. As part of her routine service, the service technician tests the equipment when she turns on the gas line.

Turn the pilot light knob to "pilot," and press it while simultaneously lighting the pilot light. To light the pilot, use an extended BBQ lighter that allows you to light the pilot light from a safe distance. Be aware that some models have a pilot "button;" if you release the knob or button prematurely, the flame will go out.

Test the electric coils or gas burners. The electric coils should become bright red after a few minutes, while the gas burners should burn with an open flame.
