How to Use a Jeep Stereo in a Dodge Truck
Replacing the stereo in a Dodge truck with a factory stereo from a Jeep is a relatively simple procedure. Jeep and Dodge are both registered trademarks of the Chrysler Group and may use interchangeable stereos depending on the model year. In most circumstances, if the stereos are of the same size, a mounting kit or other installation parts will not be necessary.

Disconnect the black negative battery cable using a socket wrench and socket. Position the cable away from the battery.

Remove the plastic bezel surrounding the stereo using a screwdriver to gently pry it away from the dash. Depending upon the model year this will vary slightly. Consult the owner's manual for specific directions.

Remove the screws securing the stereo to the dash using a screwdriver. Slide the stereo forward and unplug the stereo's wiring harness from the plastic connector. The stereo is now disconnected from the vehicle.

Plug the wiring harness on the back of the Jeep stereo into the plastic connector of the Dodge truck.

Slide the stereo into the opening and secure in place using screws and a screwdriver.

Reinstall the plastic bezel that surrounds the stereo by gently pressing in place.

Reattach the negative battery cable. The installation is now complete.

Tips & Warnings
In the event that the wiring harness plug from the Jeep stereo does not match the connector in the dash of the Dodge truck a new wiring harnesses will be needed. Be sure to purchase a wiring harness for the specific model year of Dodge truck the stereo will be installed in.
To prevent electrical damage to the vehicle you must disconnect the black negative battery cable.
