How to Get the Most Out of the Whirling Card

The whirling card trick often involves playing cards.

The Whirling Card is a card trick, wherein the performer takes a playing card and makes it appear to hover, suspended between their hands. Then they move the card around and cause it to spin. It is also commonly referred to as "Bob Hummer's Whirling Card" and is stocked at many magic stores. There are a number of measures that a performer can take to extract the most entertainment value from this trick.

Instructions

1. Master the basics of the trick. Practicing it until you are proficient. Follow the instructions provided in the kit.

2. Look at other techniques or methods for performing the trick, after you have become proficient at the first one. Different sources for the trick may provide slight variations that you can use.

3. 

   Try using other types of cards such as credit cards.

   Add props to your trick. Many magic shops have a props section that can add some color to your performance. For example, the trick is normally done with a regular playing card. Try using different types of cards to perform the trick.

4. Try floating the card into the hands of a spectator, then back into your own hands. Extending the trick beyond yourself can add a considerable amount of spectacle.

5. Allow your audience to inspect the card, or even to choose the card that you use. Doing this will bring them further into the trick and heighten the entertainment value of your performance.
