How do I Enable Cruise Control in Ford Computers?
All vehicles, including those produced by Ford, are equipped with a built-in computer system to monitor performance specs and features, such as cruise control. Pressing the cruise control button on the steering wheel will activate the feature through the vehicle's computer. However, you don't need to use the cruise control button if you connect your own computer to the Ford's built-in computer; you can instead enable cruise control with the connected system.

Check to see if you have an OBD1 or OBD2 cable connection port. This is the port used to access your vehicle's computer. It is usually located under the driver's steering wheel, but check your owner's manual for the exact location. The port is roughly 2 inches wide and 1 inch tall. OBD2 became the connection method used on vehicles starting in 1997.

Plug one end of the cable into the OBD connection port on the Ford vehicle. This cable can be purchased at most automotive stores and comes with a software package to enable your cruise control and other features on the vehicle.
