1
Enroll in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class. Most high schools and middle schools offer ESL classes for free. This class is an important resource because not only does it provide a professional teacher to assist you in your English learning, but you are enrolled with other students who are learning to speak English as well. You will be able to interact with these students and help each other along on your English learning journey.

2
Speak with native English speakers as often as possible. The most useful tools in learning a new language are the native speakers around you every day. Although having a conversation in English may seem frightening when first begin learning, getting over that fear and having regular conversations in English will prove to speed up your learning process. Strike up conversations with other high school students in your classes and do the best you can at keeping the conversation flowing. It will get easier the more often you do it.

Make all forms of entertainment a learning experience. This means read your favorite books in English, watch television and movies that are in English, and listen to English music. The more you surround yourself with English, the better you will understand the language as well as the culture of the high school students around you.

Record yourself speaking English. You probably won't catch your mistakes while you're speaking, so it's better to record yourself, play back the recording and take notes on what you need to improve on. When you record yourself, read a paragraph from a book, newspaper or high school textbook written in English. Short clips of English are not enough to provide valuable feedback and reading long blocks of text will provide you with extra practice. Before you know it, you will be reading English aloud with ease and making hardly any mistakes at all.
