Learn to make new friends at a new school.

Making friends at any time of life isn't easy, but it can feel especially hard for teenagers embarking on their first day at a new high school following a move. However, you can make friends and even friends for life by making an effort to put yourself out there and being open to new possibilities.

Instructions

    • 1

Start your first day being friendly and sociable. Smile at others and talk with the people you sit next to. Dress nicely and make sure you're presenting yourself at your best.

    • 2

Get familiar with your classmates. Get to know the names of the students you sit next to and talk with them when you can. Strike up questions about the school, possibly your teachers you have later and if you share anymore classes with them.

    • 3

Strike up conversations with people that seem to respond to you positively. Compliment their clothes or hair. Let them know you're new and ask if they could show you around the school.

    • 4

Be yourself with others and try to stand out just a tad. Try styles from your hometown, but also try to fit in with the new surroundings. Near the end of the day, if you feel comfortable with some of the students, ask about after-school hangouts and food joints. Ask if they could show you around or the best place to land a burger and fries.
