How to Repair a Loose Lens on a Japan 4x15 .22 Scope
The Tasco Japan 4x15 rifle scope uses elevator and windage control dials to help zero in on the vertical and horizontal levels. Two optic lenses cap the ends of the optic barrel. The scope attaches to rifles via set screws and dials, allowing for field stripping of the rifle if needed. When repairing the scope, take care to handle the rifle as if it were loaded at all times to prevent injury or worse. If the lens is damaged, do not attempt to repair it because it may lead to eye damage or inaccurate and dangerous shooting.
Things You'll Need

- Clear liquid adhesive
- Chamois cloth
- Lens cleaner

1
Open the rifle chamber bolt and check that all rounds are out of the rifle. Place the safety to "On." Point the rifle in a safe direction.
-
2
Tighten all screws surrounding the lenses. Do not overtighten; however, a loose screw may create a looseness on the retaining collar, thus the loose lens. Go to both lens collars and tighten the screws with a small optical screwdriver.

3
Push the loose lens retaining collar to check whether it is sliding or slightly bent. If so, squirt a very small amount of the clear liquid adhesive under the collar and push down at the bent portion to secure the glue and collar to the optic barrel. Let the glue dry.
-
4
Add lens cleaner to the chamois cloth and wash off both lenses and place the lens caps back on for transport in the field.
