Instructions

Remove the air cleaner assembly from the top of the Edlebrock carburetor on the Chevy 383 motor and set the air cleaner assembly aside. Start the engine and let it warm up until you see the choke cover inside the carburetor barrel open up.

Find the two adjustment screws underneath the Edelbrock nameplate in the front of the carburetor. The adjustment screws are gold-colored with springs behind the screw heads.

    • 3

Turn the adjustment screw on the left side counterclockwise with a screwdriver until it is completely open and turn the adjustment screw on the right side, clockwise with a screwdriver until it is completely closed. Do not overtighten the screws.

    • 4

Adjust the screw on the right by turning it counterclockwise two-and-a-half complete turns. Turn the screw on the left clockwise until it is completely closed. Then readjust the screw on the left by turning it two-and-a-half turns counterclockwise.

    • 5

Take the rubber vacuum hose off the port at the base of the carburetor and attach a vacuum gauge to the port. Turn both adjustment screws, alternately, a quarter-turn at a time until the vacuum gauge reads between 550 and 650 rpm.
