How to Tie With Forceps
Forceps are surgical pliers that are used to lock around small objects like needles and surgical thread, so that they can be more easily manipulated. However, anglers and fishermen also use these tools to help tie knots and remove hooks from fish. If you're using forceps to tie a knot, whether it's in surgeon's thread or in fishing line, the steps are very similar.

1
Lay out the line that you're going to tie. If you're tying it around something, like a fishing lure, then you should lay that object down on top of the line.
-
2
Take the left side of the line, and put it across the top of the right side of the line. Pinch the place where the line crosses, with the fingers of your left hand, and press the line down -- so that it's on the far side of the circular opening you've created. With the forceps reach through, grab the end of the line and pull it through the hole.

3
Grip the right line with your hand and pull the thread taught with the forceps. Release the forceps from the line and grip both ends with your fingers again.

4
Cross the left side of the line, under the right side of the line, creating the same circular hole -- but now with the line positions reversed. Pinch where the lines cross, and tilt the left line around -- so that it's down in front of the circular hole. Reach around with the forceps and pull the line through the hole. Pull the line tight to complete the knot.
