1
Measure the width, length and height of your headboard using a tape measure. Note the measurements.
-
2
Cut out a shape from cotton fabric using the measurements you noted as a guide, adding about 6 inches of extra fabric around the perimeter of the shape.
-
-
3
Cut out the same shape from cotton batting, excluding the extra allowance around the edges.
-
4
Lay out your fabric onto a flat surface, such as a floor, and place the batting on top. Lay the headboard on top of the batting, front side down, leaving 6 inches around the perimeter.
-
5
Staple the extra fabric onto the back of the headboard using a staple gun. Start with one staple in the middle of the top back. Then stretch the fabric taut and staple once on the bottom and on each side. Then continue from the center outward on each side, stapling every couple of inches, stretching the fabric as you go. Fold the top corners neatly and staple securely on the back of the headboard. Turn the headboard right side up and reattach to your bed frame or the wall.
