How to Find Hidden Inheritance Money

If you think you might have hidden inheritance money owed to you, you can check with National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators to find the lost money. Every state maintains an online database that lists unclaimed property including inheritance money. By searching the state databases, you can find any lost inheritance money and file a claim so that you can receive it.

Instructions

1. Go to the Unclaimed.org website. This is a free website that links you to the unclaimed property databases offered by individual states.

2. Click on the state where you live or where you think the inheritance money is located. If you don't know where the money is located, try searching multiple states.

3. Click the "Unclaimed Property" or the "Start Your Search" link. Enter your name and click the "Search" button. If you see your name listed in the search query results, click the link next to your name for details about the lost property and how to start the claim process.
