1. Brainstorm the advantages of school uniforms. Write down on a piece of paper why you support school uniforms. Some of the pros include the fact that uniforms are often more affordable than regular clothing; they encourage discipline and help children stay focused on learning rather than fashion; they can prevent gang symbols from being displayed; and they can improve school pride.

2. Write your essay's introduction paragraph. The intro should be at least three to four sentences. It should clearly state that you are in support of school uniforms.

3. Write the body paragraphs. Each paragraph should focus on one point and support your main idea. Include examples or evidence in each paragraph.

4. Present the opposing view. Some of the cons include the fact that uniforms can prevent a student from expressing himself and they can be a financial burden for some families.

5. Summarize your main idea and supporting points in a conclusion paragraph. Use this paragraph to persuade your reader why school uniforms are a good thing.
