How to Open Channels on Free-to-Air Receivers
Free-to-air (FTA) receivers are designed to receive broadcast television signals that are not encrypted. These types of receivers are capable of capturing over 1,000 channels of programming. In order for an FTA receiver to begin picking up a channel for viewing on your television, a satellite scan is necessary for the receiver to recognize or open the channels available to it from the satellite.
