How to Replace Landscape Lights With LED Bulbs

LED stands for light emitting diode. LED lights make good landscape lights since they use less electricity and last longer -- up to 40,000 hours. However, LED lights also produced less lumens than halogen lights, which means they don't burn as brightly. If you want to replace your landscape lights with LED lights, it's possible and simple in most cases. LED replacement lights usually come with the same connectors as normal landscape lights.       Purchase LED replacement lights that have the same connections as your landscape lighting requires.

      Turn off the transformer that powers the landscape lights. If the lights are halogen bulbs, allow them to cool completely before removing them.

      Unscrew the top of the landscape light fixture with the screwdriver to get at the bulb. Put on a pair of cloth gloves to remove the bulb if it is a halogen bulb.

      Pull the bulb out of the holes on the lighting fixture. Place the LED replacement light's prongs into the holes on the fixture.

      Screw the lid back on the landscape light fixture and turn the transformer back on.
