How to Install an Outdoor Shower
An outdoor shower is a convenient means for rinsing off before entering a pool or showering after working in the yard. Although shower kits are available for purchase, constructing a simple shower from a few basic materials is relatively inexpensive. Locate the outdoor shower anywhere outside the home where there's an outdoor faucet. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Outdoor water faucet
- Black water hose
- Hose nozzle
- Hook with wood screw
- Bungee cord

1
Determine the length of the garden hose needed to make the outdoor shower. Estimate the distance from the outdoor water faucet to the point where the nozzle is to be located -- so that a downward spray of water results for showering.
-
2
Purchase a length of black garden hose for making the outdoor shower. Choose a black water hose because it draws heat from the sun and produces warm water as the shower runs.
-
-
3
Connect the male end of the black garden hose to the water faucet. Thread a water-hose nozzle onto the female end of the hose. Choose a nozzle based on personal preference and the type of spray it produces.
-
4
Screw a hook with a wood screw on the end into wooden siding for hanging the nozzle. If attaching a screw is not possible or desirable, consider using a bungee cord to hang the nozzle on. Suspend the nozzle with the bungee cord from a tree limb as an alternative to inserting a screw into siding.
-
5
Determine the height to set the nozzle. Consider that a downward spray is most desirable. Position the nozzle suitable to the height of those who use it.
-
6
Position a rubber door mat, with holes or a pattern, on the ground under the shower for a place to stand. Consider using a commercially made wooden shower base if desired.
