How to Make Your Own Stick Figure Family

There are many applications on the Internet that allow you to create generic stick figures and even groups of stick figures. If you want a stick figure drawing that's truly representative of your family, consider creating your own. Most people can draw a stick figure simply by starting with a circle. With a little more work, you can draw figures of your entire family that represent them individually.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by drawing the body of the figure. Think about how the person's body is shaped. If the person is tall and thin, make a narrow body. If the person is short and fat, use a rounder, shorter shape. You can use a single line, a box, or a pair of circles.

    • 2

Draw a circle for the head. You can join the head to the body with a line for the neck, or just leave it floating. Consider what the stick figure will be doing in the final drawing.

    • 3

Draw the limbs next, starting with the legs. The length of the legs also shows the person's height and any actions the figure might be doing in the final drawing. A family member standing up straight will have straight legs, while someone who is running will have bent legs. You can draw the feet as lines, or as simple circles.

    • 4

Draw the arms next, using simple lines. You can make their arms straight or bent if they're carrying something. Hands can be a series of five lines or circles representing fingers

    • 5

Draw the facial expression. The simple smiling face is an option, but you can mix things up a bit with different expressions.

    • 6

Personalize your family figure with traits specific to that person. If Dad is balding, consider adding a swirly line on either side of his head to signify hair. If Mom wears glasses, add a circle around each eye.

    • 7

Add clothing or accessories. If one of the kids likes fishing, draw a line and a circle in his hand representing a fishing rod and reel. If one of the female family members wears earrings, add a loop to each side of her head.

    • 8

Repeat steps one through seven for each family member.
