Instructions

    • 1

Measure the slot car to check the scale. Strombecker made two sizes of slot cars, a 1/24 (which were the early versions that did not have slot tracks) and the more common 1/32 size. To determine what scale you have, measure the car bumper-to-bumper with a ruler. The car should measure either 7 inches for a 1/24-scale model or 5.5 inches for a 1/32-scale slot car.

    • 2

Look at the underside of the slot car body. All Strombecker slot cars have the company name marked on each of its cars. If the name is not present, the slot car is another brand.

    • 3

Find old copies of "Inside Track" magazine, which was issued by Strombecker, or copies of the companies catalog. Once you have determined that the slot car is a Strombecker, you can determine what vehicle it is by utilizing these resources. Hobby websites and websites such as eBay commonly have these items for sale at various times.

    • 4

Take the car into a hobby shops to see whether someone there is able to identify exactly what model car of Strombecker you have. Hobby shops might take pictures to try to locate the exact model.

    • 5

Use forums to help determine what type of slot car model it is. Websites such as Slot Car Illustrated forums offer great resources to determine which model of Stromberg slot car you own (See References). Most forums require that you post pictures to help identify the car.
