The Best Way to Clean LCD TV Screens

Liquid crystal television (LCD) screens attract dust and other particles in the air. Over time, this debris builds up on the surface and can make images appear dull. Oily fingerprints, smudges and other marks also lower the appearance of the image and detract from the overall look of the television. • 5

Dry the screen thoroughly with a fresh cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the TV is in a high traffic area or area with poor air quality, wipe the screen more than once a week.

  • Never use harsh chemicals including benzene, ammonia, bleach, toluene or rosin to clean the screen. Clean it with isopropyl alcohol only if approved by the LCD TV manufacturer.

  • Do not use abrasive objects like paper towels on the screen. Fingernails and jewelry will also cause damage to a screen.

  • Always squeeze excess water or cleaner from the cloth as any liquid that seeps into the TV and onto electronic components can cause damage or pose a fire risk. For this same reason, never spray the screen with cleaner, only on the cloth.

  • Never press hard against the TV screen.
