International 9.0 Diesel Specs

The 9.0L International diesel engine and motor is a type of engine commonly used on heavy trucks and construction equipment, because of the strength these large vehicles require. The 9.0L diesel engine was produced for a series of engines built between 1966 to 1970 and 1980 to 1987. Navistar, which formerly was International Harvester Company, has since renamed many of their diesel engines under the MaxxForce brands. Navistar International also provides building kits for individuals who want to repair their International 9.0L diesel engines.
Engine
The Navistar International 9.0L diesel engine has a horsepower of 165, which is suitable for powering construction equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes and excavators, as well as commercial trucks and buses.
D-Series
The 9.0L International diesel was first featured on the D-series of engines that appeared from 1966 to 1974. The two 9.0L diesel engines were called DV 550 9.0L and the DV550B. The Direct-Injection V8 engine appeared between 1980 and 1987.
Rebuild Kits
