Some online programs will give students credit for hours spent working, some programs are full-time, some are part-time, and some programs are designed for those who are trying to receive their diploma as quickly as possible. Decide which program best fits your needs so you can narrow down your search. Also know the difference between a GED and a diploma. A GED program will reward you with a General Educational Development, which is not the same thing as a high school diploma. Many online programs can earn you credits toward a high school diploma, not a GED, if that is what you want.

  Apply for that online school. Submit all the necessary information to the institution. Request transcripts from past high schools in order to have previous credits transferred to your new program. Register for all the classes you are interested in taking the first semester.
