Earn your diploma online.

Earning your diploma is no longer something you need to do in a classroom. Many people are earning their diplomas from the convenience of their own homes. The Internet has become a great resource for earning a diploma online. Do your research, though, before choosing an online school to receive your diploma.

Instructions

    • 1

Talk to a guidance counselor at a local school to decide what types of programs are available. Narrow down the options to those that best fit your needs.

    • 2

Research online classes and compare different online learning opportunities. Some online programs will give students credit for hours spent working, some programs are full-time, some are part-time, and some programs are designed for those who are trying to receive their diploma as quickly as possible. Decide which program best fits your needs so you can narrow down your search. Also know the difference between a GED and a diploma. A GED program will reward you with a General Educational Development, which is not the same thing as a high school diploma. Many online programs can earn you credits toward a high school diploma, not a GED, if that is what you want.

    • 3

Choose the online school that best fits your needs.

    • 4

Apply for that online school. Submit all the necessary information to the institution. Request transcripts from past high schools in order to have previous credits transferred to your new program. Register for all the classes you are interested in taking the first semester.

    • 5

Complete the courses satisfactorily. Receive your diploma.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before enrolling in an online school, view the program's accreditation to make sure it is legitimate.
