1
Put together homemade beaded ornaments for the tree. Use craft wire if you are an adult, but pipe cleaners are easier for small children to work with. Collect a variety of colored and clear beads to use in this project. Have children make these by stringing beads onto a pipe cleaner, then twisting the ends together and working the finished product into any shape they like. Create bells and wreaths with these materials.

Make ornaments from small pom-poms to decorate the tree with. Make some in the shape of Christmas trees, and others in the shape of stars or bells. Cut craft foam or cardboard into the shape you want, and glue pom-poms of the desired color onto the board to create the ornaments. String thread through the top of each ornament, and tie to make a hanger.

Make tin luminaries to light the evenings during the holiday season with cans that once contained food. Wash out the cans, remove the paper and allow it to dry. Draw a winter or Christmas scene or object around each can, fill with water and freeze. Take the cans with the frozen water from the freezer one at a time. Using a hammer, pound a large nail into the can along the drawn lines, leaving spaces between each nail hole. Place the cans in the sink until the ice melts, and allow to dry once again. Place tea light candles in each of the tin cans, and place them around your home.
