How Do I Sign Up for eBay?

Sign up for eBay in order to buy or sell in the marketplace.

Signing up for an eBay account is free. You will be able to both buy and sell using the same account. The only time you will be charged anything by eBay is when selling items, as bidding is completely free for buyers. Creating an account can be done in a few simple steps and should only take you a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Visit the eBay homepage located at www.ebay.com. Click on the "Register" link located at the top of the page.

2. Enter your personal information, including your name, address, phone number and email. Use an email that you can access readily, as you will need to confirm registration later in the process.

3. Create an eBay user ID and password by typing your desired name and password into the form. You will also be asked to create a secret question that can be used to retrieve your password if you lose it at a later date.

4. Enter your birthday in the drop-down box displayed. You must be at least 18 years of age in order to have an eBay account.

5. Read over the "User Agreement" and "Privacy Policy" that are displayed when registering. Confirm you have read them by selecting the "I Agree" check box.

6. Press the "Continue" button and an email will be sent to the address you provided confirming your registration details. Click the link in the email and your eBay account will be activated and ready for use.
