Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Bissell vacuum cleaner from the power outlet.

    • 2

Locate the handle-release pedal on the back of the vacuum and press it down with your foot. Lower the handle all the way to the floor, and then flip the vacuum over so that the side with the roller brush faces up.

    • 3

Remove the plastic cover over the roller brush by either removing the screws or clips holding it in place or pulling firmly, if there are no screws or clips.

    • 4

Pull the roller brush directly up out of the bottom of the vacuum and slide the rubber belt off the end. If you cannot remove the belt due to the buildup of hair and debris, use a utility knife to cut the hair away from the roller brush at the end so that you can slip the belt off. Be careful not to cut the belt.

    • 5

Cut the hair wrapped around the roller brush with the utility knife, and then pull on the hair and debris to unwind it. Continue to cut and pull debris from the roller brush until it is clear.

    • 6

Slide the rubber belt back onto the end of the roller brush and set it back into place in the vacuum. Return the plastic piece to the bottom of the vacuum by pressing it firmly into place or securing it with the screws or clips.
