1
Insert the ignition key into your 2001 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder and turn it. Check the engine's kill switch that is located on the handlebars and make sure the switch is set to the "Run" position.
-
2
Locate and observe the fuel tank selector switch and confirm it is set to the "Main" tank position. In addition to the main tank, the Suzuki Intruder has a small reserve tank that provides enough fuel to allow you to ride your motorbike to a nearby gas station if you run out of gas.

-
3
Press the "Start" button to start the Suzuki Intruder. If the motorbike will not start, turn the key back to the "Off" position and remove the key from the ignition.
-
4
Remove the gas filler cap and look inside gas tank to make sure you have enough gas.
-
5
Remove the side body panel located just below the seat on your Suzuki Intruder and find the battery for the motor bike. Attach a battery meter to the battery and look at the gauge to see how many volts the battery is holding. If the battery has 10 volts or less, the battery may need to be charged before it has enough power to start the bike.
-
6
Remove the spark plug wires from the top of the spark plugs. Remove and replace the spark plugs in your Suzuki Intruder. An internal combustion engine requires the correct amount of fuel, air and a good spark from the spark plugs for it to start and run. With the new plugs installed, connect the spark plug wires and start the motorbike.
