How to Install Shogun Frame Sliders
All motorcyclists understand that crashing is part of the game. Eventually, it will happen to the even the best rider. To prepare for this fact, many sport bike riders have opted to invest in a pair of frame sliders to protect their motorcycle's expensive frames and motors. While many of the frame sliders available from Shogun Motorsports are installed relatively easily, thanks to a bolt-on "no-cut" design, a few frame sliders use a racing-style design, which require you to cut holes into your motorcycle's fairings. Neither method is too hard for most motorcyclists to install, but some preparation is required.

1
Open your Shogun frame slider kit and take an inventory of the kit's contents. You should have a pair of plastic slider pucks, two puck bolts, two mounting brackets and two replacement motor mount bolts. Take note that the frame slider pucks and the motor mount bolts may contain one longer piece and a shorter piece. This is normal.

2
Remove the fairings from your motorcycle, using an Allen wrench. This will provide you with complete access to the frame's motor mounts.

3
Loosen the left motor mount bolt with an Allen wrench. Place a piece of modeling clay along the inside of the left fairing panel. Hold the left fairing against the motorcycle and press the modeling clay into the extended left motor mount bolt. Remove the fairing panel. Cut a 1 1/2 inch hole into the fairing panel, centered around the bolt head's depression in the modeling clay, using an electric drill and a hole saw. Set the fairing aside for now. This step is only necessary if you are installing a racing-style Shogun frame slider kit.

4
Remove the left motor mount bolt with an Allen wrench. Place the frame slider's bracket against the motor. Screw the shorter of the two replacement motor mount bolts into the bracket and the frame's motor mount with an Allen wrench.

5
Place the shorter of the two frame slider pucks onto the mounting bracket. Screw the puck's bolt into the bracket with an Allen wrench.
-
6
Install the right frame slider, following the same method. Use the longer motor mount bolt and frame slider puck for the right side of the motorcycle.
-
7
Reinstall the fairings onto your motorcycle.
