How to Clamp Down the End of a Counter Top
The procedure for installing a counter top can vary depending on the size of the counter top, the materials used, and the method of securing the counter top to the cabinet tops. In the case of one-piece counter tops (like granite) or counter tops made up of a few larger pieces it is important to clamp the pieces to the cabinet tops. In some cases, this may be done to allow the adhesive to dry or allow you to screw the counter top into place if screws are used without the top sliding around.

1
Position the counter top on the cabinet wood surface after applying the adhesive or if the counter is held by screws, before you install the screws. If there is more than one counter top piece, position them so there is an even amount of overhang along all edges of the counter top.
-
2
Place the C-clamp at the center of each overhang side of the counter. The clamp should touch the top of the counter top and the bottom portion should clamp onto the cabinet frame underneath.

3
Tighten the clamp so that the counter top does not move around. Do not make it too tight as this can cause cracking of the counter top.
-
4
Apply additional C-clamps as needed on the other sides of the counter top as needed.
-
5
Proceed with the counter top installation.
