How to Measure an Undermount Kitchen Drawer Slide

The undermount system is common in self-closing drawers.

An undermount kitchen drawer is one that has slides on the bottom of the drawer instead of on the side like traditional drawers. The undermount system allows the homeowner to pull the drawer all the way out to its full length. It also allows you to install wider drawers because the side mounts are not present. Measuring the slide of an undermount drawer is simple because the drawers come out their full length.

• Measuring tape

Instructions

1. Pull the undermount drawer out all the way, so its full length is exposed. Look underneath the drawer to make sure the slides reach all the way to the back of the drawer.

2. Position yourself underneath the drawer. Hold the end of a measuring tape against the back of the drawer slide, where it meets the end of the drawer.

3. Pull the measuring tape along the length of the drawer slide until you reach the end of the slide near the front of the drawer. Note the length of the slide.
