A chain breaker is used in bike chain maintenance.

When bike and kart chains need to be modified or adjusted, a chain breaker simplifies this process. A chain breaker can can make the process quick, but disassembling a chain requires proper care to prevent damage.

Instructions

    • 1

      Fit the chain into the groove in the roller chain breaker. There should be two bolts along the outside of the chain breaker. One of these has a flat head and the other has an extended pin at the end.

    • 2

      Line the roller you want to remove up with the bolt that has extended pin.

    • 3

      Screw the bolt carefully at the roller you wish to remove.

    • 4

      Pull the roller out of place and the chain will come apart.

Tips & Warnings

  • When turning the bolt to remove the roller, work slowly. Being too quick can cause parts to not align properly, causing damage to the chain.
