How to Salvage Range Rovers

How to Salvage Range Rovers thumbnail
Salvage laws for Range Rovers are the same as those for other consumer vehicles.

A salvage title for a vehicle means there has been significant damage and the insurance company has declared the vehicle to be unworthy of repair. When this occurs you apply for a salvage title so you may legally release the license plates and receive a rebate on your registration fees or insurance. Each state is different regarding salvage, but all follow the same basic formula. If you have a Range Rover that needs to be salvaged, get the needed forms at your local DMV.

Things You'll Need

  • State salvage title form
  • Screwdriver
  • Insurance card

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the title, registration, insurance card, a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license), the license plates off the Range Rover and a letter from your insurance company stating the Range Rover is to be declared "totaled." Take the license plates off with the screwdriver.

Locate a local branch office of your state's Department of Motor Vehicles or governing body for automobiles. Find these branches through your state government website. For example, the California government website is cal.gov.

    • 3

Bring all the documents and plates to the DMV and request a salvage title form. Fill this out completely and present it to the desk agent, along with all documents and license plates.

    • 4

Receive back the salvage title, which must be submitted to your insurance company as proof of salvage to release the contract or receive rebates.
