How to Install an Intake System
Upgrading the intake system of your vehicle is one of the easiest ways to increase engine horsepower and efficiency. Installing an aftermarket intake lets the engine take an increased volume of air. Also, aftermarket intakes often relocate the air filter to the outside of the engine bay, where it can breathe cooler, denser air. This not only improves top-end horsepower, but also improves engine efficiency and gas mileage. Note that the installation procedure of an upgraded intake system will vary depending on make and model, as well as the type of intake being installed.
Things You'll Need

1
Remove the stock intake system. Generally, there are several air box mounting brackets secured by Phillips-head screws. Remove these, as well as any lines or sensors plugged into the stock intake tube. Loosen the hose ring that secures the intake tube to the throttle body. The entire intake system will then lift free of the engine bay.

2
Modify your vehicle for fitment of the aftermarket intake. For some vehicles, this requires trimming of stock components, such as the bumper splash guard, fender well liners, etc. Refer to vehicle-specific installation instructions if you are unsure of the modifications needed to fit the intake to your vehicle.

Fit the aftermarket intake into place on the engine throttle body. Secure the intake to the throttle body with the supplied rubber adapter and hose ring. Secure any intake mounting flanges with Phillips-head screws from the stock intake mounts. Connect all stock lines and sensors into their designated locations on the intake tube. Secure the supplied air filter to the intake tube with the filter hose ring.

4
Disconnect the vehicle battery for approximately one minute after you've completed installation. This will reset the engine computer's stored fuel curves, allowing it to remap fuel curves tuned to your new intake system.
