How to Remove the Rear Quarter Trim Panels on a 1995 Mustang Convertible

The rear seating area of the 1995 Ford Mustang convertible has plastic panels lining the interior wall. Behind these panels you'll find the rear speakers. If you want to remove the rear speakers or perform other modifications to the Mustang, you may need to remove the rear quarter trim panels. Because they are attached to the interior wall by rivets, removing the trim panels is straightforward.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the front seats all the way forward using the power seat controls (if equipped) or the metal bar beneath the seats. Access the rear seating area.

    • 2

Push the rear seat cushion anchor release button. This button is between the front edge of the seat cushion and the carpet. Run your fingers under the front edge of the seat to find the button. It's in the middle of the seat.

    • 3

Grasp the rear seat cushion and pull it upward and forward to remove it from the Mustang. Set it to the side. Now you'll have access to either rear quarter trim panel.

    • 4

Insert the trim panel stick into the lower rear edge of the rear quarter trim panel. Gently pry outward to pop the trim panel off. It's attached by plastic rivets on the inside.

    • 5

Work your way around the entire rear quarter trim panel, gently prying with the tool. Separate the rear quarter trim panel when it's fully unhooked. Repeat the process for the other panel, if necessary.
