How to Use Simply Accounting by Sage Premium

Sage accounting software is a robust program that is very commonly used for small businesses. Sage offers everything from general accounting to time, billing and contact management. Sage provides a user-friendly presentation, real-time transaction updates and a wide variety of training and customer support options.

Instructions

1. Sign up for the free 30-day trial of Sage's online accounting software. To do this, visit Sage's Simply Accounting Premium site and select the "30-Day Free Trial" hyperlink. This will walk you through everything you need for the free trial.

2. Spend time familiarizing yourself with the Sage system by entering the delivered sample company after you have successfully installed the software on your computer. This sample company allows you to navigate through the information established by Sage. When you enter the Sage software, you will find various menu tabs on the left side of the window and a visual presentation of the menu you are currently in. There is a "Customize" hyperlink at the bottom of the homepage that allows you to add quick links to pages that are visited often.

3. Open the Sage Getting Started Guide. This can only be done in the single-user mode. This guide provides all the essential information for establishing your company in Sage. Depending on your use of the software system, all or only certain sections will apply. This guide will prove to be your personal user manual for setting up initially, entering transactions, running reports and determining user security.

4. Go to the Learning Center and use the delivered tutorials to further your understanding of the Sage accounting system. The Learning Center is found in the menu on the left-hand side. This area is also where you find access to Sage Support and other helpful information.

5. Begin entering detailed data transactions and running reports as needed once your company infrastructure is fully established and you feel comfortable navigating the system. Even though you have not purchased the Sage software at this point, this data will become "real" if you decide to move forward with Sage after the trial period. If you are unsure of how to enter any transaction and would like to test it, use the delivered sample company prior to entering the transaction into your created company.

Tips & Warnings

• The Sage accounting software can be used in single- or multi-user modes if you use the Premium version or higher. You select this option by choosing the appropriate radio button at the time of login when prompted for user name and password.
