How to Adjust the Rate of PondMaster 1250 Pond Pumps

The PondMaster 1250 is a fully submersible garden pond pump and filter system designed to operate with ponds that contain up to 600 gallons. Unlike more expensive pond pumps, the PondMaster 1250 does not feature a built-in, flow-adjustment valve. The pump has a fixed flow rate of 250 gallons per hour. It is, however, possible to install a flow-reducing valve on your PondMaster 1250 so that you can manually adjust the flow rate of water through the pump. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the PondMaster 1250 pump by disconnecting the pump from its power source.

    • 2

Locate the 3/4-inch vinyl tubing attached to the motor of the pump.

    • 3

Cut the tubing approximately 12 inches from the pump's motor, by using the utility knife.

    • 4

Insert a 3/4-inch flow-reducing valve into the cut tubing. Attach one end of the cut tube to the valve. Push the tube onto the valve and make sure the tube fits tightly over the valve. Repeat, connecting the other end of the cut tube to the other end of the valve. The valve is reversible and either end of the valve can fit in either end of the tubing.

    • 5

Reconnect the pump to its power source and turn it on.

    • 6

Adjust the valve to the desired water flow rate by rotating the valve slightly towards the fully opened or fully closed position.
